Beginning Piano Lessons

Here’s your opportunity to learn to play the piano. Beginning classes for children are offered in conjunction with A&A Music Academy at 27W281 Devon Ave. (Ontarioville Rd.) in Hanover Park. Basic skills, music reading and counting will be taught. Because we are able to add additional classes as needed, you may register even if the original class is full. A book fee of $10 payable to A&A Music is due on the first day of class. Call 630-837-7484 if you need driving directions.

GUITAR INSTRUCTION

Guitar FUN-damentals provides high quality instruction in a friendly format that stresses fun as well as learning. One-hour small group classes insure plenty of personal attention in an energetic atmosphere. Bring your own guitar, acoustic or electric.   

Beginning Guitar 1: Students learn basic chords, sight-reading, and songs. One-time book fee of $16.19 is payable to instructor at first class. (Make check payable to Guitar FUN-damentals.)

Beginning Guitar 2: For students who have taken Beginning Guitar 1. Beginning Guitar 2 continues to build on skills learned in Beginning Guitar 1, more advanced chords, sight-reading, and songs. Guitar Boot Camp 1: Covers basic chords, scales, strumming patterns, and some basic music theory to get students playing quickly. Emphasis is on learning chord sequences so the student can play some popular songs right away. One-time book fee of $16.19 is payable to instructor at first class. Drum Lessons                                     

For children and adults, beginners and experienced drummers! You'll learn Jazz, Rock, Blues, Funk, and Latin Funk drum techniques during private half-hour lessons on a professional drum set. Instructor Verne Duddles creates a comfortable and inspiring atmosphere to maximize each student's progress. Please bring a set of drum sticks to class (price is $6-$12), available at any good music store. Recommended drumsticks: Size 7A for children, 5A for adults.

Note to continuing students: Early registration for continuing students will be November 9-14 to reserve preferred time in the Winter session. Please understand that your preferred time may not be available after these dates if you do not take advantage of early registration.

YOUNG REMBRANDTS                                                

ALL NEW LESSONS EVERY SESSION! Young Rembrandts classes combine what children need to learn and practice with what they love and want to draw! Lessons are designed to match the abilities and interests of different age groups. Students take home a ready-to-display project each week. All materials supplied.

Preschool Drawing

New location! Convenient for parents of students in the Hanover Park Park District Pre-School program. Preschoolers are eager to learn and a joy to teach. Each week we draw something young artists are interested in: fish, teddy bears, rainbows, cowboys, etc. We’ll concentrate on the techniques of drawing and coloring but also work on fine motor skills, focus, listening, staying on task, spatial organization, and patience.

Elementary Drawing

Young Rembrandts’ innovative, step-by-step method can teach any child to draw, regardless of “artistic ability.” New subject matter each week: animals, landscapes, still lifes, even art history. Classes feature a positive nurturing environment resulting in increased skill and self-confidence.

Cartooning

Young Rembrandts Cartooning class combines an innovative step-by-step drawing method with light-hearted subjects that engage children, develop their senses of humor, and exercise imagination. Emphasis on creating silly characters, cartoon expressions, and drawing sequences to tell jokes.
